Of all our body parts - breasts are probably the bits that can cause the most controversy.
How big they are, how much of them get shown, whether or not they should be used to breastfeed in public - and the answer to that is always "hell yes", even the pecs on a man or the frightening prospect of "manboobs" are a cultural "thing". But for women who have had a mastectomy, the loss of a breast or breasts can be distressing, it's that loss of a piece of us that so proudly asserts that "I am a woman". Breasts are a nurturing and of course a sexual part of our being. Well, it's BRA Day! Breast Reconstruction Awareness Day - and we're going to have a chat about the low rates of reconstruction among Australian women. Speaking with Afternoons presenter Kelly Higgins-Devine are Dr Geoffrey Lyons, President of the Australian Society of Plastic Surgeons and Tanya Saad who is writing a book about her breast reconstruction experience called "From the Feet Up".
