8 brave members of the Reclaim Your Curves community promote the information and support available through Reclaim Your Curves for women facing mastectomy.
Breast reconstruction rates in Australia are low in comparison to the UK and the USA. One reason is a lack of knowledge. Reclaim Your Curves information and support assists women to feel supported and to be informed about their choices. Having choices and participating in the decision making ultimately leads to a more complete recovery from breast cancer.
Thank you to Rubicon Films, Film Maker Peter Schmidt and his crew who gave their time and expertise to make this project possible.

How the girls felt about making this video
"Bringing together women who all are connected in the Reclaim Your Curves online community, but who have never met, to undertake such a personal task was an incredibly emotional and inspiring experience. The film maker Peter Schmidt was professional and talented and dug deep for the core messages of the women and our broader community. I am very proud of this achievement and hope that together we can raise the profile of the needs of women facing mastectomy." Louise, Consumer Advocate for Reclaim Your Curves
"I guess what I'd like to convey is that I found making the video a very emotionally healing experience and a wonderful opportunity to be connected with other strong women. Connection strength and healing pretty much sums it up for me. I loved it. " Kelly
It was very rewarding meeting a group of women who were on the other side of their reconstruction since I had only just finished my treatment and as yet not had reconstruction.
We became a tight team in the hours before filming whilst in the dressing room sharing our stories with the added apprehension of not forgetting our lines at the back of our minds.
I found it fascinating watching the technical side of it all and have a new appreciation of professional actors and how they make it look so easy. Standing under the hot lights trying hard to make each take the last one was at times a little overwhelming as the reality of what I have been through over the past 8 months begun to hit home.
At the “world premiere” at Peters studio we were all nervous and eager to see the results which were incredible in such a short space of time. So tastefully done. We all looked amazing thanks to the makeup and hair ladies.
I found that the whole experience has made me realise that my treatment is behind me now and the excitement of getting my body to maybe look even better than it was before with reconstruction after such a traumatic episode in my life is something to look forward to. All with the help of other women who have been there before me." Annmaree
